When Your Puppy Forgets His House Training

Monday, September 5th, 2011

We’ve all been there – our puppy hasn’t had an accident in the house for months, he regularly goes to the door to let you know he has to go and he’s almost on a perfect routine to make the training that much easier.  Then you find a puddle on the floor and can’t understand why this has happened.

Puggle puppies and other breeds don’t necessarily “forget” their training.  There are many reasons that these random accidents can happen.  And, sometimes, the reason is just as random as the accident. (more…)

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Do you have a dog that silently asks to go outside?  You know, the kind that sits quietly by the door and by the time you notice him, he’s shivering to pieces or practically crossing his legs?  This is where the handy trick of teaching them to ask comes in wonderfully!

Crate Training Your New Puppy

One of the best ways to housetrain your new puppy is by using the popular crate training method.  Simply put, crate training gives your puppy his own personal space, then gets him used to the idea of not soiling his home environment.  Over time, this behavior will be carried over into the household itself as you increase the area in which you allow him to wander free.  Puppy crate training reinforces a dog’s natural instinct to keep the area where he eats and sleeps clean.
